Jana Sayson is a visual storyteller who loves cheesecake and watching animated shows with her dog, Angel.
Based in Nevada, she is a videographer and photographer with a background in journalism and fine arts. Experience in both compels her to blend aspects of journalistic storytelling and cinematic visuals to create a more dynamic medium for storytelling, one with a focus on visuals and emotion.
Jana is currently a video editor at Three Sticks Productions in Reno.
She is an alumna of the NPR Next Generation Radio Bootcamp where she produced “The Modern Milkmaid.” Additionally, she has worked on award-winning projects–as a director of a short form television ad campaign, “The Foodie & The Sporty,” for the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno which won a Silver Addy Award in 2019; and as the director of photography and editor for the mini-doc “Mas Que Pan,” which won Best Student Film at the Cordillera International Film Festival.
Jana has also been recognized with the Marilyn Newton Outstanding Student in Visual Journalism award while at the Reynolds School of Journalism at UNR.
Her past work includes freelancing with the Nevada Independent, KUNR Public Radio, Throne Digital Marketing, and PHLV Radio. She also volunteers her time and photography at the SPCA of Northern Nevada.
While she focuses on digital work, Jana also loves to experiment with analogue photography, using various 35mm and Polaroid film.
Born in the Philippines, she now calls the vast expanse of desert and rock that is Nevada home.
